In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Prince Sidon of the Zora Tribe instantly became a fan favorite for BOTW players. Sidon gives Link endless encouragement and a winning smile throughout. Of course, the internet noticed how attractive Nintendo designed him, too. However, fans still discover new secrets in Breath of the Wild, including a special Zora symbol from Ocarina of Time adorning Prince Sidon.

In ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,’ Prince Sidon has designs of the Zora’s Sapphire on his armor

When Link sets out from the Great Plateau, he might run into various Zora like Torfeau or Gruve directing him downstream. At Inogo Bridge, Prince Sidon makes a grand entrance. He tells Link that he needed a Hylian to help save Zora’s Domain.

However, it is easy to get caught up in his loud, positive personality and miss the details of his design. One Redditor noticed that in Breath of the Wild, Prince Sidon has a special symbol from Ocarina of Time.

“Did you ever notice that Prince Sidon’s Shoulder Pads are adorned with the depiction of the Zora’s Sapphire spiritual stone?” the Redditor asked.

Fans responded that they never noticed the Prince Sidon detail in Breath of the Wild until they pointed it out. Others noticed that Prince Sidon’s sister, the Champion Mipha also had the symbol on her person. It even found its way into Link’s Zora Armor.

Even more fans wanted to check on the Goron and Gerudo clothing.

However, Nintendo confirmed BOTW to take place at least 10,100 years after the latest Legend of Zelda game in the Zelda Timeline, making Ocarina of Time an even more distant memory for the Zora. Does it make sense for Prince Sidon, Mipha, and Link to wear such an ancient symbol?

Why is the Zora’s Sapphire Spiritual Stone from ‘Ocarina of Time’ still important in ‘BOTW’?

Despite Ocarina of Time existing as ancient history in BOTW, the Zora kept a very strong link to the past.

While venturing in Breath of the Wild with Prince Sidon to Zora’s Domain, Link comes across a monument on the path between Oren Bridge and Luto’s Crossing. Reading it reveals it to be a History of the Zora, part one of seven with two addendums and a memoir.

Part five of these monuments focuses on the sage Princess Ruto from Ocarina of Time. Despite 10,000 years since she helped the Hero of Time defeat Ganondorf, she had a profound impact on the Zora culture. And she could not have helped the fight without giving Link the Zora’s Sapphire.

As the Spiritual Stone representing the Golden Goddess Nayru, Link used its power in the Temple of Time to retrieve the Master Sword. With the item standing as such a pivotal tool in the history of Hyrule, the Zora crest closely resembles it.

Why does Prince Sidon have Zora’s Sapphire designs in ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’?

The Zora Crest, Zora’s Sapphire, and the goddess Nayru’s symbol are all important in The Legend of Zelda series.

Since they all have a similar design of three outward-facing crescent moons, it makes sense for them to reappear in many places.

Champion Mipha cared a lot about tradition. Since she and Prince Sidon had a close relationship before the events in Breath of the Wild, it makes sense for Sidon to pick up the same cares.

And fans can likely expect to see the symbol again in the Sequel to Breath of the Wild.
