Love Island has returned for its second season on CBS, and while fans are just getting to know the new islanders, many are already done with one of the cast members. That cast member is Tre Forte, a 25-year-old personal trainer who previously played college football at Ohio State. Forte recently had some controversial tweets resurface, and this has ultimately led to some fans wanting him voted off the show.

Tre Forte is a former Ohio State football player

According to his Love Island bio on CBS, Forte is a 25-year-old personal trainer from Florida. However, he grew up in Ohio and played football at Ohio State University, where he also graduated with a business management degree.

Forte, who walked on to the Ohio State football team in 2013, only played in five games throughout his college career, according to Eleven Warriors. However, playing for one of the top college programs in the country appeared to have a significant impact on him.

“Coming to Ohio State turned me into a grown man, just by the values that they instilled in me,” Forte told Eleven Warriors. “I came here as a 157-pound boy and left as a 186-pound man. They taught me to be accountable for myself, show up on time and if you want to achieve something in life, you have to work for it.”

Forte played at Ohio State from 2013 through 2017 and earned 2017 Academic All-Big Ten honors.

His controversial tweets resurfaced after the ‘Love Island’ season premiere

After the Love Island Season 2 premiere, some controversial tweets from Forte resurfaced.

When asked in 2013 about how he would feel “if black chicks went to all the white boys,” Forte responded, “we wouldn’t care cuz we don’t want them ha.”

In 2014, Forte also tweeted, “I want my future kids to be mixed w something else.”

Additionally, Forte tweeted this in 2014: “But once again Yal only making a big deal about it because another race killed him. Where is all this hatred when blacks kill other blacks?” In a reply, he also said, “it’s very wrong and unfortunate that he was wrongfully killed. But would it be as big if the cop was black? Honestly.”

These tweets have not sat well with fans.

Many ‘Love Island’ fans are done with Tre Forte

After seeing these tweets, fans of Love Island aren’t happy with the show’s decision to cast Forte.

One Reddit user said, “Welp, won’t be lasting long. Shouldn’t casting check for this type of stuff? smh,” while one fan tweeted, “so we all agree we’re voting him out asap right.”

However, another Reddit user commented, “Y’all I’m not like really trying to defend this but isn’t he 22? And these were 6/7 years ago?”

Someone then responded, saying, “He’s actually 25. So he would be around 18 or 19 when he made those tweets. Which means he was adult enough to actually realize what’s right and wrong,” in which the other person replied, “Oof. Touché. Didn’t realize he was that old. Although you’d be surprised how ignorant 18 year olds can be haha.”

While on the show, Tre had his partner, Cely Vazquez, taken from him by Johnny Middlebrooks at the end of the first episode.

Love Island airs on CBS at 9 p.m. ET on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
