Floribama Shore star Gus Smyrnios recently made headlines for proposing to girlfriend Samantha “Sami” Carucci. But now, fans’ attention has shifted back to the MTV series, which Smyrnios is allegedly “leaving.” Here’s what we know about Smrynios’ future involvement with Floribama Shore.
Fans claim Gus Smyrnios is leaving ‘Floribama Shore’
While many fans have been celebrating Smyrnios’ engagement, others are focused on what Smyrnios has said about the MTV series. “Gus is responding to people on Twitter about how he is not returning [because] MTV asked him not to,” said a fan on Reddit.
“The main tweet that he is replying to was deleted. I’m assuming he called out production etc. does anyone have the deleted tweet?”
While the original tweet is no longer, Smyrnios continues replying to fans in the thread with more information. “That’s what I was so upset about, they lied on my name about things,” his one response tweet reads. “Watched me freak out on them about it. Continued to push a False storyline on me, not caring that people sending me hate 24/7 about things that aren’t even true. They f***** with the wrong one.”
MTV has yet to confirm another season of Floribama Shore. But if the network does bring the SallyAnn Salsano-produced series back, it’s unlikely Smyrnios will return.
‘Floribama Shore’ fans think MTV should recast the show
Amidst the rumors about Smyrnios’ exit from the series, some Floribama Shore fans think the entire show needs to be recast. “I’m shocked it’s even coming back at all,” says one Reddit user. “The ratings for this last season were horrible. But if it does, they should recast for sure.”
Kortni Gilson previously left ‘Floribama Shore’
Kortni Gilson is an original cast member from the MTV reality series, but left show for her mental health. She was replaced by Mattie Lynn Breaux in season 3.
Gilson’s exit came after a triggering night out in Panama City Beach. Later, in a conversation with Dr. Drew Pinsky, Gilson said she was raped when she was a teenager. She has not returned to the show since.
Gus Smyrnios’ relationship with the cast of ‘Floribama Shore’
In the first half of Floribama Shore Season 4, the tension between Smyrnios and his roommates lingered from his feud with Jeremiah Buoni. While there was growth throughout season 4, that no longer seems to be the case. At the end of the season, Smyrnios and his Floribama Shore castmate Candace Rice got into a heated discussion on Twitter regarding the alleged racism in the house.
“Put my best foot forward all [season], some just didn’t accept it,” he said on Twitter. “Not everyone will accept me. That’s OK. Got in a bad accident after filming, 3 surgeries only Aimee, Kirk, and Codi reached out. Then don’t get invited to the wedding. Real family we are lol.”
More recently, it seems like Smyrnios has severed even more ties. He and Kirk Medas no longer speak.
“We had a falling out over the network telling him to stay quiet, but I needed him as a friend,” Smyrnios said. “He’s a good dude we just ain’t close like that anymore.”
Showbiz Cheat Sheet reached out to Smyrnios and MTV for comment. Neither party replied to our request by the time of publication.
